Advanced Energy, LLC (AE) was formed in April of 2013 by the purchase of some of the assets of Advanced Energy Services LLC (AES). In 2000 one of Michigan’s largest drilling and well service contractors decided to divest himself from that business to focus on his production interests. Three of the key employees of that company formed AES the same year and acquired assets of the old company at auction. They grew the company from a 2 drilling rig, 3 completion rig company up to a 7 drilling rig, 18 completion unit company over the next 10 years. In 2012 the remaining two owners, Gary Provins (now the president of AE) and Jeff Welch (now the operations manager of AE) decided that the company needed to get out the Michigan based operations and focus solely on presetting surface casing in the Bakken in North Dakota, the Powder River basin in Wyoming, the DJ & Niobrara basins in Colorado and of course the Midland, Permian, and Delaware basins in Texas/New Mexico. We shared our vision with a group of likeminded investors and formed AE in April of 2013 with a focus on growing the business and meeting our customers needs.
